Once you’ve chosen a form template, you’ll be taken to Leadformly’s form builder. Here you can compose your questions and control important things such as:

  • Adding, editing, and removing questions from your form
  • Adding steps to your form (to create a multi-step form)
  • Adding a call to action at the end of your form

Below is a quick guide on how to use the form builder in Leadformly.

Adding and removing questions

You can add a new question to each step by selecting the 'add new question' button. You can also delete steps if you would like a simpler form.

If you need to remove a question from a step, click the 'trash can' icon which is shown on the

right-hand

side of the question when you hover over it.

You will receive warning

when you chose to delete an

element on

your form.

Editing Your Questions

You can begin working on your form by selecting a question you’d like to work on, editing the question title and question type. More about question types read over here.

Question Type

This is an important part of all questions. It is a way to add an additional layer of simplicity to your forms. Where text is needed e.g. Name. A short text field is perfect. However when gathering information where you would want to guide your leads more to help segment them a drop down (select one option) or (select multiple options) question would be best.

Placeholder Text

This is where you give your lead an example of how to answer the question. In the example below we have a question 'What is your name?' e.g. Joe Bloggs is the placeholder and this will show in a light grey colour in the short text field where your lead will submit their answer.

Display Conditionally

This is known as conditional logic. Choosing whether to display a question based on your leads answer to a previous question.

An example being, if I was building a form for a web design agency I could use conditional logic to display the question ‘Which mobile platforms do you need designs for’ if a user answered ‘mobile app designs’ to ‘Which services are you interested in?’.

Multi Step Forms

From our experiments, we’ve found that multi-step forms typically outperform long one-page forms.

You can either create single step or multi-step form. Single step form means you will have all your questions appear as a single step on your web page. A multi-step form will split your form into few steps. One step can contain one or more questions at a time.

With a Multi-Step form, you will need a final step.

This is where you would collect all your leads data so that you can contact them. It finishes the step with a Call to action (CTA) button which can also be modified.

This is an excellent way to redirect your leads back to your site. Perhaps to a promotional page, or even to a page with more relevant information about your business.

Once you have all your questions and steps in place, and your final steps CTA ready don't forget to save your form before moving into preview mode.

This is displayed at the bottom right of the Build form page. As soon as you do that, you’ll be taken to the form Customiser and you are ready to make your form fit in with your business branding.
